Starting with KNIME Analytics Platform 5.9, you will need to access Batch Execution via a separate installable extension. It will no longer be available within the default build.Why we made this change
We’ve made Batch Execution a separate extension so we can learn more about how our community is using this functionality and foreground our offer of KNIME Pro’s automation capabilities within the product. We developed automation via KNIME Pro because we believe this is a more maintainable, scalable path to fully automate your workflows.
Batch Execution is still available – you just need to download the separate extension from this page. Our goal remains the same: to keep KNIME flexible, transparent, and open.
Your options for automation
We now offer two paths depending on how you want to automate your workflows.Option 1: KNIME Pro – Cloud automation made simple
KNIME Pro is the recommended way to automate workflows that will receive developer support going forward.

Option 2: KNIME Batch Executor – For local automation via the command line
If you prefer to run workflows from the command line on your own machine, the Batch Executor is still available.
It works exactly as before — just installed separately.
It’s ideal for:
- Offline or restricted environments
- Local testing and small-scale automation
- Users who already use cron jobs or scripting tools
Before installing the Batch Executor, please tell us why you need it. Your input helps us improve our automation tools.
How to install the KNIME Batch Executor
To install the KNIME Batch Executor, complete the following steps:
- In KNIME Analytics Platform, open Preferences and go to Install/Update → Available Software Sites.
- Add the following update-site URL (copy and paste it as plain text):
https://update.knime.com/batch/latest - Apply the changes and close the Preferences window.
- Install the KNIME Analytics Platform Batch Execution via Menu -> Install Extensions
For offline installations, download the zipped update site and register the file instead.
