Financial Metric - IRR

Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is a financial metric used to evaluate the profitability of potential investments by calculating the rate at which the net present value of all cash flows (both positive and negative) from a project equals zero.

Financial Metric - IRR

How This Workflow Works

This workflow analyzes three types of investment projects—orchid cultivation with irregular returns, regular monthly investments, and investments with known reinvestment rates and capital costs. It calculates the return rate for each project, compares their profitability, and visualizes the results to help identify the most attractive investment opportunities.

Key Features:

  • Calculate IRR and related return rates for diverse investment scenarios
  • Compare profitability across multiple projects and investment types
  • Incorporate custom discount rates and reinvestment assumptions
  • Visualize and rank investment opportunities for clear decision-making

Step-by-step:

1. Calculate Return Rates for Each Investment:

The workflow processes each investment project by applying financial formulas to compute the internal rate of return (IRR) and, where relevant, extended IRR metrics that account for reinvestment rates and capital costs. This step ensures that each project's profitability is measured using appropriate financial logic for its structure.

2. Integrate Discount Rates and Reinvestment Assumptions:

For investments where discount rates and reinvestment rates are available, the workflow incorporates these variables into the return calculations. This allows for a more accurate assessment of projects that involve ongoing investments or specific financial constraints.

3. Aggregate and Compare Project Results:

After calculating the return rates, the workflow brings together the results from all projects. It organizes the data to enable direct comparison, making it easier to evaluate which investments offer the highest returns under the given assumptions.

4. Visualize and Share Insights:

The workflow generates a bar chart that ranks all projects by their calculated return rates. This visualization provides a clear overview of the investment landscape, supporting informed decision-making about where to allocate resources.
