The KNIME Report Designer provides a report template for each workflow. Special nodes enable those data tables to be identified that should be available within the report.
With the KNIME Report Designer the creation of reports consists of two clearly separated tasks:
- Select, transform, preprocess, filter and prepare the data you want to use in the report. This step is carried out in a KNIME workflow.
- Design, style and edit the presentation of this data with the report template editor.
Thus, the KNIME workflow editor shows all the preprocessing that is performed on the data in a comprehensive way, while the report template editor reveals how the data will be presented in the report. This therefore prevents these topics from being mixed up.
Step-by-step documentation for getting started is here.
While KNIME is an excellent tool for ETL uses, as well as data modeling and machine learning, many KNIME users like to use Tableau for visualization of their data. Since this is a common practice, we thought we should provide a short guide on how to connect KNIME with Tableau. There are a few methods you can use to do this, and here we describe these methods in further detail, while walking through an example KNIME workflow. Read the step by step guide for connecting to Tableau with KNIME here.
