New "Guide to Intelligent Data Analysis" using KNIME and R just published

Guide to Intelligent Data Analysis

A new book written by Michael Berthold and colleagues Frank Höppner, Frank Klawoon, and Christian Borgelt was just published by Springer-Verlag. The "Guide to Intelligent Data Analysis" provides a hands-on instructional approach to many basic data analysis techniques, and explains how these are used to solve real world data analysis problems. Each chapter demonstrates how the presented methods are applied using both KNIME and R scripts.

KNIME Version 2.2.0 released

We have just released KNIME Desktop & KNIME Reporting version 2.2.0.

This release contains two highlights:

  • Built-in access to a public workflow server which already hosts a number of example workflows for various tasks that will be extended over the coming months, and
  • A new set of modular data generation nodes which we will present at the upcoming KDD conference in Washington next week.

Apart from that, this is a minor release with a number of other new features including optional ports, flow variable control ports, credentials support for database nodes, node-local files (exposed as flow variables), as well as a new package for itemset mining (making use of the well known Borgelt implementations), and web analytics. KDD 2010 - The New Iris Data : Modular Data Generators

Iris Adä is introducing a modular, highly flexible, open-source environment for data generation at the KDD 2010 in Washington DC.

Using KNIME, the user can combine various types of modules for numeric and categorical data generators. Additional functionality is added via the data processing framework in which the generator modules are embedded. The resulting data flows can be used to document, deploy, and reuse the resulting data generators.

Details can be found here.
