Hands-on Introduction to Data Mining with KNIME - Training July 2015

This course covers the basics for data loading, integration, preprocessing, analysis and visualization with KNIME.

KNIME, the Konstanz Information Miner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KNIME), is an open source data analytics, reporting and integration platform. KNIME integrates various components for machine learning and data mining through its modular data pipelining concept. A graphical user interface allows assembly of nodes for data analytics workflow: data integration and preprocessing (ETL: Extraction, Transformation, Loading), for modeling and data analysis and visualization. Since 2006, KNIME has been used in a variety of data analytics fields, such as pharma, customer intelligence, finance, IoT, social media, and more.

Please bring your own laptop in order to follow the hands-on parts of the course. All training materials will be included on a USB stick.

Coffee, tea and breakfast snacks as well as lunch and afternoon coffee and tea are included.

The course will be run by Dr Rosaria Silipo (Linkedin). She is not only expert in data mining, machine learning, reporting, and data warehousing, but has also become a recognized expert of the KNIME data mining engine, on which she published three books: (KNIME Beginner's Luck, The KNIME Cookbook, The KNIME Booklet for SAS Users).

Previously Dr. Silipo worked as a freelancer data analyst for many companies throughout Europe. Prior to that, she lead the SAS development group at Viseca (Zürich, Switzerland), implemented the speech to text and the text to speech interfaces in C# at Spoken Translation (Berkeley, USA), and  developed a number of speech recognition engines in different languages at Nuance Communications (Menlo Park, USA). Dr Silipo gained her doctorate in biomedical engineering in 1996 from the University of Florence (Italy).
