KNIME Enterprise Server

The Enterprise server provides the same functionality as Server Lite but adds user access management. User classes can be assigned and privileges given to individual users or user classes. In addition scheduled execution capabilities enable workflows to be executed at specific dates and times. Furthermore the server can also manage a workflow template repository where fractions of workflows can be stored and shared to build local workflows with recurring functionality. A web user interface enables the status of workflows to be checked; alternatively they can be reset or executed without requiring KNIME to be installed. The Enterprise Server also provides access to KNIME workflows in order to custom build applications.

    • Re-usable workflow templates that can be copied and modified locally

    • Pre-configured workflows on server repository, which can be applied to new data sets

User rights management:

    • Read, modify, execute workflow
    • Create or remove workflows in server repository

Remote and scheduled execution:

  1. Execution of compute- or data-intensive workflows on the server
  2. Remote execution of single nodes (license, or scheduling issues)
  3. Scheduled execution
    • By time: execute workflow for data import, or report generation at certain time intervals (daily, weekly, etc.)
    • By event: execute workflow when new data is available

Detailed feature description

  • Have an expert user pre-configure workflows, store them on the server and allow normal users to trigger their execution
  • Prepare templates for standard data analysis or data management tasks in order to provide normal users with a good starting point for their tasks
  • Prepare data import, report-generating workflows, or any other workflows that need to be run frequently, and define the time intervals for them to be run on the server
  • Define a set of workflows to provide the functionality for certain infrequently required tasks (e. g. data preprocessing before importing them into an operational database)
  • Integrate KNIME's functionality into other applications via a clean API to trigger workflow execution
  • Remote execution of workflows using a web interface

KNIME Enterprise Server is currently under development. Server Lite - with a subset of functionality supporting small workgroups is already available.
