Following the success of the first KNIME Open Source Days (KOS Days) last year, we are happy to announce the second KOS Days in first week of September. The event is again hosted by the university of Konstanz.
We invite all programmers that have already contributed open source extensions to KNIME or plan to do so in the near future (please note that this is not a developer training, participants should already have a basic knowledge about writing KNIME extension). The primary goal of the KOS Days is to develop existing projects further in open programming sessions. During the whole week some of the KNIME Core developers will be around and assist you with tricky problems and give hints for improvements. They will also provide insights into the KNIME architecture and ongoing developments. Participants are invited to to present their projects or other interesting topics as well.
The event will be sponsored by KNIME and the university - equipment, food, and beverages will be covered. However, participants will need to pay for accomodation and travel by themselves.
Monday, 03.09.2012 until Friday 07.09.2012. We don't have a very strict programm this year. On Monday after lunch we will have an introduction round, where each project should shortly present itself in three slides (who you are, what it is about, your two most interesting nodes). Please use and adapt this template. In addition we plan to give an outlook on on-going and future KNIME developments. If you would like to present something to the other participants or if you would like to learn (more) about KNIME-development related topics, leave a comment during registration and/or vote at Doodle.
The final program for the 2nd KNIME Open Source days is out and contains detailed maps of where to find us, as well as decrictions for evening events.
Here you find the collection of all projects' presentations.

Konstanz can be reached by train or by plane through Zurich (ZRH). From Zurich airport there are trains to Konstanz every 30 minutes (visit SBB for train schedules). Also the local airport in Friedrichshafen (FDH) is an option, there are direct busses to Konstanz about every hour.
The KOS Days will be at the University of Konstanz in room C425 (we will put up signs since even long-term students sometimes get lost...). You can reach the campus from the center by bus with lines 9A or 9B.
There are no hotels in walking distance to the university (but it can easily be reached by bus). Most hotels are in the city center, e.g. Hotel Viva Sky (~80-120€/person/night incl. breakfast) or Hotel Bayerischer Hof (~65€/person/night). Both hotels are in walking distance to the train station and bus stops.
If you want to attend KOS Days 2012, please register here.
